Lesson Structure and Billing
Brisbane Music Studio offers up to three, no obligation lessons to start charged at the rate above. If you’re happy to continue we then invoice you for the remainder of the term, and on a term to term basis thereafter.
In addition to lesson fees, all students are charged $11 per term (incl GST) for licensing and the provision of all lesson resources.
Brisbane Music Studio: Meet Our Guitar Teachers
Madi is a passionate, contemporary guitarist based in Brisbane who has graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Guitar (Performance). She was originally accepted into the Conservatorium for Classical Guitar and after six months moved to the Jazz Department due to personal preference.From a young age Madi always loved listening and playing music and started to play an instrument from the age of five. Madi began playing piano and continued to do so until the age of thirteen and also played cello and participated in many choirs over her schooling years.From the age of nine, Madi has played guitar and it’s been her thing ever since. Her love of rock music initiated her love with guitar and the ability to play relevant music in her life. Since Madi started playing, she has progressed through many different genres including classical, folk, metal, rock, country, punk and now jazz.
Madi has completed the Rockschool London’s syllabus and has a Rockschool Diploma in Performance (DipRSL (Perf)). Madi has also completed many AMEB Music Theory and Classical guitar exams.As a musician and teacher, Madi believes it is important to never stop learning and progressing on her craft, so she will always be improving and learning, as you or your child is too. Lessons with Madi are all about learning and playing music that is fun, challenging and rewarding.
Travis Jenkins is a Brisbane based guitarist, composer, arranger, teacher and performer. He has been studying and playing the guitar for 18 years and has an extensive knowledge of western music theory, as well as a keen interest in the music of other cultures. He is a prolific composer and multi-instrumentalist, having written and arranged music for a variety of circumstances including film music, video game sound tracks, small and large string ensemble arranging, big bands, and choir.
As a performer, Travis has experience in a variety of performance situations; from small café/lounge settings, to weddings and private functions and has played in contemporary outfits at major festivals such as the “Brisbane International Jazz Festival”, “Mullum Music Festival”, “Island Vibe”, “Woodford Folk Festival” and “Big Day Out”. In 2015 Travis was one of two nominees in Queensland for the prestigious Freedman Jazz Fellowship.
Travis graduated in 2013 from the Jazz Music Institute with a Bachelor of Music (BMus), studying guitar under Bruce Woodward and Ben Hauptmann and achieving the academic award for highest GPA three years running. Since graduating, Travis has conducted several clinics and masterclasses focusing on everything from basic guitar technique, performance and band interactivity to song writing and composition. Travis is an enthusiastic educator who tailors his teaching methods to match the requirements of the individual, ensuring that they identify with their own strengths, discover knew strengths and above all, enjoy themselves and revel in the joy of learning and playing music!
Stephen Ward is a full time musician who works as a teacher, session guitarist, singer, music producer and songwriter. He has an Ad. Dip. in music performance and has over 15 years of teaching experience. As a performer, Stephen has been involved with many bands for Weddings and countless corporate events such as the Melbourne Cup racing carnivals, Crown Casino, Melbourne Aquarium just to name a few.
He is experienced in teaching many guitar styles including Pop, Jazz, Rock, R&B, Soul, Funk, Gospel, Blues and Country. Stephen strives to help his students fully grasp musical concepts, so the student can then take them away and incorporate them in their own musical creativity and discovery.
